What we Believe

images-heart-shape
Anchor Church Leeds is a Baptist Church committed to being present, prayerful and practical in North and East Leeds and drawing from a wider area.  We believe God is in the city – among its people, streets, stories and struggles – and we are called to join it.
As followers of Jesus, we are shaped by His example: welcoming the outsider, standing with the overlooked and offering hope where it’s needed to most.
We are a growing dispersed and diverse family of faith who gather to worship, scatter to serve and walk alongside our neighbours in everyday life.  Whether in homes, community spaces, cafes or parks, we seek to love out the Gospel in creative, inclusive and authentic ways.
Anchor Church is a group of people who found ourselves together in a new way through unexpected and sometimes challenging circumstances and people who have joined us from the local area.  We have prayed and nurtured one another through this and have become Anchor Church Leeds.

Anchor Church is made up of committed members and at present our church is based in the expanding and developing area of East Leeds.  We span the complete age range from babies to the elderly and have a mix of ethnicities within our church family.  Anchor Church works hard to include anyone as they come to us, and all are welcome regardless of background, lifestyle or circumstance.
We have a strong leadership team of 4 members who prayerfully lead the church as we move forward to build and develop as a worshipping community.  At present, Anchor church meets on 4 Sundays a month at Chapel FM Community Arts centre in the area of Seacroft.   Our services are very relaxed and are a mixture of sung worship, prayer, teaching and social gathering for one another.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

Anchor Church Leeds welcomes all to meet with us and learn more about the love of Jesus together.

Where and When

We meet at the Chapel FM Arts Centre Seacroft for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. There is some parking at the centre but we mostly park in the roads around.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits from 10am, before the service begins. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome. Then follows a time of sung worship. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. Together we will hear God's word and talk that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We usually finish with another worship song. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service and on the third Sunday of the month we share in communion together.  Our services are relaxed and welcoming for all irrespective of need, background or lifestyle.  Come and join us.

Can I bring my children?

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, praying, craft and fun games. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes if they have not returned during the singing of the last hymn.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups or hubs allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve eg refreshments, church set up, website  and comms etc.
